Who are we?

About Us

The purpose of UTCDC is to provide students with a platform to express different opinions on primary issues in the world. We aim to raise students’ consciousness and generate critical thinking through participating in debates and developing students’ communication and presentation skills. UTCDC will provide regular workshops, training, and competitions to students throughout the school year. Students can understand various forms of arguments and learn how to support a stance in a debate by using multiple resources. By actively participating in our activities and competitions, students will also have great opportunities to improve their public speaking skills. In the previous year, we have been collaborating with Cantonese Perspectives at the University of Western Ontario, King's College London, University College London, Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto), and Canadian Hong Kong Alliance (Toronto) on several debate competitions, allowing students to share their views and make connections with the judges and professionals.
